Only a few years after New Beat's success-story, the complete collapse had already arrived. The public figured it had seen everything there was to be seen and the excellent sales from the beginning didn't last either. Those who had only taken advantage were left with nothing, but by then the better (real) producers were already exploring other regions of dance music. They hadn't been betting everything on one horse, like those who were only part of New Beat to make some easy money with their (mostly crappy) releases - by which I mean the second wave, because in the beginning almost everybody was doing that kind of thing :-/ (money and success can have such an amazing attraction, you know...)

Dance music kept evolving through the years and so did the Belgian record labels. The Belgian dance compilations that appeared since then have been nothing but "the best to be found". Here's a small overview of the better and longest running compilation-sets of this small country of mine.
